    Dr. Bivash Bishnu Chowdhury

    Researcher and Artiste

    Dr. Bivash Bishnu Chowdhury is an independent Researcher, Painter, Artisan, theatre practitioner, and resident artist of a prominent Bengali Theatre group called “Daul” (The Troup) based in Santiniketan, West Bengal. In parallel, he is working and teaching in various theatre groups/ organizations/ institutions/ schools with holistic knowledge of Oriental art (Fine Art and Performing Art) & Craft, especially Indigenous performance practices. 

    Dr. Bivash has completed his PhD in Theatre Studies from the Department of English, Visva-Bharati, Santiniketan, India and has completed his Master’s degree in Theatre Arts from the Department of Performing Arts, Pondicherry University, Pondicherry and did his Bachelor’s degree in Drama & Theatre Arts from the Department of Rabindra Sangeet, Dance and Drama, Sangit Bhavana, Visva-Bharati, Santiniketan. 

    During the period of study, he worked with prolific and renowned Directors in India and abroad like R. Ramanujam, Ratan Thiyam, V. Arumugham, C. Raveendran, Prabir Guha, S Pralayan, Mangai, Zairo Vergo Fruto to learn and adapt new Theatrical ideas and innovations to build up his own kind of method of Direction on Stage.
